• If arriving outside of valet operating hours, OC Boat Rentals staff may assist by recording your license plate and holding your keys to transfer to valet when they arrive. Valet fees and policies still apply, and OC Boat Rentals is not responsible for valet services or vehicle storage

Customers will receive a full refund for cancellations with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice prior to the start time of the reservation. If you would prefer a credit, we can credit it towards a future booking or rebook you into another date or time immediately.
For holidays and holiday weekends, customers will receive a full refund for cancellations with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice prior to the start time of the reservation. If you would prefer a credit, we can credit it towards a future booking or rebook you into another date or time immediately.
Customers will also receive your choice of a change in boat style, full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by text or phone at 949.534.6227 to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
Some guests are welcome to enjoy their reservation even in less-than-perfect weather, provided conditions remain safe. Self-captained Duffy rentals are permitted as long as rain does not significantly impair visibility. Alternatively, captained boat options remain available in these conditions for added convenience and comfort.
In the event of inclement weather, we offer the flexibility to reschedule or receive a full refund, even within 24 hours of your reservation, if any of the following conditions are present:
• Rain affecting visibility
• Winds exceeding 13 knots
• Severe weather alerts
• Small craft advisories
• Lightning
• Strong or unsafe harbor conditions
If questionable weather is expected, please contact us to express your concerns. We monitor highly accurate marine weather systems, not just standard weather apps, so we can make informed decisions and ensure your safety, comfort, and enjoyment on the water.
Yes! We welcome dogs of all breeds! We kindly ask that dogs over 35 pounds have a blanket or towel placed under paws when on upholstery, that they are relieved prior to departure to prevent accidents, and are supervised at all times to avoid any damage to the boat.
Some dogs experience unexpected anxiety when on the boat and can act differently than normal, so monitoring them closely is recommended.
If ANY additional cleaning is required or there is damage due to your pet’s visit, we reserve the right to charge a minimum $50 pet cleaning fee or any amount to cover damages.
Dogs must remain inside the Duffy’s at all times but are allowed to swim off of our Pontoon boats. See “Can we swim?” FAQ below for conditions.
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to your reservation start time and be ready to check in with the following:
• A valid government issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older matching the reservation information
• The same credit card used to make the reservation
• The name on the ID and credit card must match the person presenting it
Any discrepancies may result in delays or cancellation without refund.
Waivers & Rental Agreement
Please ensure the renter agreement and all passenger waivers are completed prior to arrival. Reception at the dock can be limited, and departure may be delayed until all waivers are fully submitted and received in our system.
Completing waivers in advance helps ensure a smooth and on-time departure. Please be sure to share your waiver link with all guests.
You can forward your confirmation email if you prefer, but using the waiver share link is easiest and lets your guests sign without seeing your booking details.

A few quick things to help your trip go smoothly:
🕐 Arrival: Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so we can get on the water on time. We cannot always make up time for late arrivals.
📝 Waivers: All passenger waivers must be signed before you arrive.
🚗 Parking:
• Valet at Billy’s is easiest: 2751 West Coast Hwy ($25 cash only, ATM on site)
• City lot: 139 Riverside Ave (low cost, pay by app ParkMobile, behind Wells Fargo)
• All other lots may be subject to towing
• Rideshare is a great option, especially if you plan to drink 🍹
🚻 Restrooms: Restrooms are limited at the dock. We recommend using the restroom before arrival or at public docks during your trip.

We are happy to help direct you, but trip time cannot be extended for restroom delays.

We want you to have an amazing time on the water! Just keep it safe and respectful so everyone can enjoy the harbor 🤙🏽
Yes. In order to rent a boat on your own, you must be 21 years of age or older with valid ID. This includes Duffy boat rentals and charters. There is no age minimum for passengers with an adult renter. Anyone 13 or under, however, is required to wear a coast guard approved life vest. If you have children with you, we advise bringing any life jackets you may have for them. We stock 20+ of our own, but if we were to run out, we would be unable to send children out without them.
Yes! Food, drinks, and alcohol (for those who are 21+ and not captaining the boat) are allowed. There are no open container laws prohibiting possession or consumption of alcohol on your boat or other vessel. It is important to note, however, that the same laws apply to the captain as the driver of a motor vehicle; If you’re driving recklessly or over the CA legal limit, you can receive a DUI.
We recommend reducing glassware wherever possible, such as canned beer instead of glass bottles. We understand if you have glass alcohol and wine bottles, but ask that you safely stow bottles between use to reduce the risk of breakage. Any broken containers are subject to an excessive cleanup fee to reduce injury to others.
Please note that food and personal belongings are not the responsibility of OCBR staff. Seagulls in the area are aggressive and move quickly — if food is left unattended, they will get to it.
We strongly recommend storing all food in thick, sealed bags or hard coolers that are not easily accessible to animals and never leaving items unattended. Our staff members assist customers across multiple docks throughout their shifts and are unable to monitor personal belongings. OCBR is not liable for any items that are lost or damaged as a result.

However, the city enforces strict fines, so the following items are not permitted:
• No mylar balloons
• No glitter or confetti
• No adhesives
If you decorate yourself, please do not use adhesives. Adhesives damage the boats. All decorations must be fully removed at the end of your reservation within your rental window. Excessive adhesive residue or damage may result in cleaning or repair fees.
We include a complimentary 10 to 15 minute early arrival window to allow for light decorating. If you need additional decorating time, please contact us in advance. We can block the boat from earlier rentals for an additional early access fee of $0.50 to $1.00 per minute, depending on the vessel. This early décor fee reserves the vessel, blocks the time from other rentals, and ensures staff are available to direct you to your assigned boat.
For a seamless and elevated experience, you may also add a Custom Décor Package. Our décor partner can transform your boat with professionally designed decorations tailored to your occasion, whether it is a birthday, engagement, or special celebration. Décor packages include the early decoration window and do not require the additional early access fee mentioned above.

Yes!
We know you love having windows on your Duffy boat Newport Beach, and we do too! Roughly 60-80% of our Duffy boats have wrap-around windows. All Duffy boats come equipped with full covers that provide shade when needed.
We openly accept requests for a boat with windows via text message or direct contact with an OC Boat Rental Representative. We will notate your request and do our best to provide you with the requested boat. These are all available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed to anyone.
Our pontoon boats include retractable bimini tops that offer both shade and sun over most portions of the boats. Some pontoon boats provide more shade than others. If additional shade is important to you, please reach out in advance and request a boat with more shade. We will do our best to accommodate your request on a first-come, first-served basis.
At this time, our Pontoon boats and our Pink Duffy do not include windows. While it is the newest addition to our fleet, it was designed as an open-air boat to provide a more spacious and enjoyable cruising experience. Please keep this in mind when booking, especially during cooler or rainy weather.
Please remember that we try to balance a great customer experience with the best price in the business! Windows are expensive and must be replaced annually, so the more gently our customers handle our windows, the more boats we’ll be able to equip!
Yes, you are welcome to operate the Duffy boat yourself. Our Duffy boats are designed to be user friendly and are suitable for renters without prior boating experience. This offer does not include a captain.
If you would prefer to have a qualified captain operate the vessel so you can drink, relax and enjoy the experience, we can introduce you to a qualified independent captain. You can select this option when booking. If you’ve already booked, just let us know in advance, and we can update your reservation to include a captain.
Captain fees are paid separately and directly to the captain. Independent captains are not employees of OC Boat Rentals but are familiar with all of our vessels.
Pontoons boats require a qualified operator. We cannot select a captain for you, but we are happy to introduce you to a choice of local independent captains who are familiar with our vessels and qualified to operate them safely. Captains familiar with our fleet typically charge $50 per hour, plus gratuity, and are paid directly by you at the time of your rental. More info
Yes! All of our boats are equipped with Auxilary, USB, and Bluetooth inputs for you to listen to your music using a standard 3.5mm headphone cable, USB cable of your choosing, or Bluetooth Wireless technology. We no longer provide cables as they are often stolen leaving us without cables for the next guests. As such, we advise bringing your own cable on any device that requires one. The USB receptacles are designed to charge any devices plugged into them, however we have found that this works better with some devices (iPhones) than others.

Our double-decker pontoon boats are equipped with onboard bathrooms for your convenience.
For all other boats, we recommend using restrooms before arriving and at all public docks while out on the water. We have limited restroom space, and lines can be long especially during high peak times. Extra time cannot be given due to late arrival for waiting for the restrooms.
Please ask our dockhands for restroom locations. Options include:
– Emergency restrooms on site (ask our Dockhand as they are locked)
– Billy’s at the Beach (for paying customers only)
While swimming is not permitted on Duffy boats, it is allowed under certain conditions from our pontoon boats.
Duffy Boat Swimming Restrictions
Swimming is strictly prohibited from electric Duffy boats.
Duffy boats are not equipped with anchors and cannot be secured in designated swimming zones as required by U.S. Coast Guard and Newport Harbor regulations. Harbor patrol actively enforces these laws, and violations may result in citations or fines.
Dogs are also not permitted to enter the water from Duffy boats and are subject to the same regulations and potential ticketing.
Additionally, Duffy boats house sensitive electrical battery systems beneath the seating. Exposure to salt water can cause damage to electrical components and interior materials over time. If excessive water is found inside the vessel, cleaning, repair, or damage fees may apply.
Duffy boats are not equipped with boarding ladders, and attempting to re-enter from the water presents serious safety risks, including propeller hazards due to its location. OC Boat Rentals assumes no liability for any injuries to persons or animals resulting from attempts to re-enter the vessel.
Pontoon Boat Swimming
Swimming is permitted from our pontoon boats when operated with a captain and only under the following conditions:
• The boat must be anchored
• The boat must be within designated swimming zones
• Engines must be completely turned off
• Swimming is allowed only with captain approval and supervision
Our double-decker pontoon boats also feature a fun onboard slide, which may be used when these conditions are met.
Our captains are trained to bring guests to approved swim locations and ensure all safety and harbor regulations and laws are followed. Swimming is never permitted while the vessel is underway or outside designated swim zones.
Yes! We have them in all sizes to accommodate anyone from newborn to adult. In the unlikely event we were to run out of our children’s life jackets, we would not be able to send out any children under age 13 until we had a life jacket returned for them to use. Therefore, we strongly encourage bringing your own coast guard approved life jacket for your children if you have one. Children 13 and under require life jackets at ALL times while on the water.
Promotions do not apply to Saturdays, holidays, holiday events, holiday weekends, Holiday Lights Cruises, the Christmas Boat Parade, or any nights in December.

Promo codes cannot be combined with Early Bird discounts. Early Bird discounts apply automatically to reservations made more than 14 days in advance for Duffy boats and 21 days in advance for pontoon boats.
Gift cards may still be used on eligible bookings.
Smoking of any kind is not permitted on any of our vessels. This includes cigarettes, cigars, or any products that may produce ash. Ash can burn upholstery, damage vessel surfaces, and cause excessive cleanup. On vessels with engines, gasoline vapors may be present and can travel with airflow while underway, creating a serious fire hazard.
Vape pens are permitted on all vessels but we ask that you open windows for ventilation.
If ash, burn marks, or smoking related residue are found onboard, an excessive cleanup fee of no less than $50 will be charged, and additional repair fees may apply for any damage caused to the vessel.
Lockers: We do not have lockers, nor is OC Boat Rentals responsible for anything left on the docks. While we have NEVER had an issue with theft, we cannot make any guarantees as to the safety of your belongings while you’re out on your rental. As such, we suggest leaving as many items as possible in your car.
Changing rooms: No. We do not have changing rooms.
Not yet! All of our stereos have (1) 5V USB plug, in addition to Bluetooth capabilities. This receptacle will charge MOST phones, but due to differences in brands, the quality of the cable being used, etc., we do not guarantee that they will charge ALL devices. We currently do not have any 110V (household) charging outlets or charging cables on boats.
The Duffy and Pontoon boats are not rated for ocean travel.
